Hot Rocks is a term that applies to terrestrial minerals that register (hot) on a metal detector or are 'attracted' to a test magnet or may visually appear metallic or meteoritic. But upon further inspection, the "hot" expectation quickly cools to a "false alarm." Hot rocks have been 'cursed' and discarded by gold and meteorite hunters for years.
